run2 lands uefa a licence course pack redesign

run2 lands uefa a licence course pack redesign

As a result of our continuing work for both The FA nationally and many local County FAs, run2 has been asked by The FA to redesign the candidate and tutor packs for the flagship UEFA A Licence coaching course.

The job features the roll-out of the new FA font and represents a massive overhaul of the course literature to be not only more user-friendly, but also to reflect the prestige of what is the highest rung of open-entry coaching available. The new products will be ready in time for the next A Licence course at the end of May.

The job follows hot on the heels of our successful completion of the candidate packs for the Level 1 Certificate in Coaching Football course, the first rung on the coaching rung, and as such The FA's biggest attendance coaching course across the nation; the scale and exposure of the job therefore represents quite a coup for us, having been previously involved in the successful initial release of the FA Youth Award Module 1, which went live at the beginning of last year.

The candidate pack consists of a main book plus two large additional resources - a Club Administration Handbook and a Club Coach Handbook - all of which feature one of the first implementations of The FA's new brand guidelines, and which represent a massive change to the look and feel of the candidate resources for the course. Design for the jobs was completed in October, with the materials in use from the beginning of this year.

blind2010 website gets online ticketing

blind2010 website gets online ticketing

With the draw for the 2010 World Blind Football Championship made in Hereford yesterday, the online ticketing for the Blind2010.com site went live.

We've been involved with the Championship from the moment it was announced that The FA would be hosting the tournament in this country, and designed the tournament logo before moving on to other areas, including the website.

Blind 2010.com presented us with our most tricky technical challenge to date. The basics of the site run through pages built on the new HTML5 standard, the News and Blog sections had to feature cross-referencing and URL resolution to not only avoid page duplication, but to assist with the search optimisation process that is an integral feature of the site. The Blind 2010 team can now add, edit and delete stories and posts, safe in the knowledge that doing so will only enhance any search engine presence rather than damage it. Additional users can also be created with access to their blog posts only, while the content management system also allows access to ticket orders already placed and the number of remaining tickets for each day of competition.

Evidently accessibility has had a big influence in the site build. We've been building sites to the Web Accessibility Standards set by the W3C since the day we started, and we used this knowledge, along with our experience working on the Partially Sighted World Championships a number of years ago to give us a headstart this time round. Prior to the site going like, it was audited by the Royal National College for the Blind, who gave the site a big thumbs ups.

cox and son jewellers' site launched

cox and son jewellers' site launched

We've just launched the new site for Yarmouth-based jewellers Cox and Son.

The brief for the site was to produce something visually simple but effective, with usability the key. Their contracts with manufacturers forbid them from selling online, and in some cases from displaying product imagery, but we shot some photography at their main shop specifically for the site, and within the restrictions have created a stuning presence for Michael and the team.

This site represents the first step online for Cox and Son, so Search Optimisation has been a key element in the site build - there's no point having a great site if noone can find it! We'll be keeping a close eye on their ranking, expecting an rapid entry into the top positions now the site is live.
